Paul McCartney (1965)<\/span><\/h2>

On July 1, 1965 at 12:40\u00a0pm, The Beatles landed in Madrid from Paris. The band that represented freedom was the polar opposite of the social and political situation in Spain.<\/p>

A young Joana Biarn\u00e9s, who is considered the first photojournalist in our country, covered the press conference with Jes\u00fas Hermida for the newspaper\u00a0Pueblo<\/em>. The photographer, very aware that she had to get the photo that would make a difference, realized that she would not reach her goal at a press conference, surrounded by so many other colleagues.<\/p>

After the band\u2019s concert in Madrid, she traveled to Barcelona on the same plane as the English band. From the plane\u2019s lavatory, with a telephoto lens, she managed to get some pictures until some security staff noticed her presence and forbade her to continue taking photographs.<\/p>

Thanks to her skills, the photographer managed to sneak into the hotel room where The Beatles were staying by using the service lift. She knocked on the door of the suite and Ringo Starr let her in as she seemed like a harmless fan. Three hours later, Biarn\u00e9s came out with a world exclusive: sharing a private moment with the Liverpool Quartet as no other professional had done before.<\/p>

Biarn\u00e9s was, above all, a persistent and courageous woman, who always sought to get the best possible picture. Empathetic and generous, over the years, she earned the trust of her subjects, and always stayed true to her values and principles as a photojournalist.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Joana Biarn\u00e9s<\/h2>

Tarrasa, 1935 \u2014 Tarrasa, 2018<\/p>

The professional career of a very young Biarn\u00e9s was marked by an historic event: the Beatles\u2019 visit to Spain in 1965. After years of experience in sports photography, the field in which her father worked and where she took her first steps, she became a true a pioneer in photojournalism. For years, she was the official photographer for singer Raphael and she also worked for several agencies. She quit the press at the end of the 1980s.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
